ASH Theater Company's Junior Theater Program

Auditions: May 16th & 18th

Wissahickon Church

5245 Ridge Avenue | Philadelphia PA 19128

The program is designed for ages 8-18. Students ages 6-8 may register for our junior ensemble group. The junior ensemble will participate in basic theater training and perform in only a select number or scenes. Students interested in stage crew should email Sabrina sabrina@ashtheater.org

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this "masterpeach" of a tale.  Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.

Tuition - $275 per performer, $175 for junior ensemble and stage crew.

There is a $50 registration fee due at the first rehearsal for all participants.

We never want costs to prevent a student from joining. Tuition can be paid through fundraising or sponsorships. Please reach out to Anthony - anthony@ashtheater.org for any concerns. Discounts are available for families with multiple students participating.

General Audition Information

Thank you for your interest in joining our community! We want this to be the best possible experience for everyone, so we ask that you review our general requirements for our audition process. At ASH, being part of a show is a commitment – to the theatre and to your fellow cast members. Teamwork is essential and we expect the following commitment from our cast members:

Scheduling & Conflicts

We ask that you consider that theatre is a time-intensive commitment, requiring that you prioritize your schedule according. Please do not audition if you do not plan to accept a role if offered to you. If you are planning to audition for another show which might interfere with your commitment to the one at ASH or if you have known conflicts for rehearsal or performance dates, you must notify the theatre of these conflicts at the audition. Part of what the theatre relies on is your commitment, your word, that you will fulfill your obligation, once you are cast. Without that assurance the theatre cannot continue to operate. Preliminary rehearsal schedules for all productions will be listed with audition notices.

Commitment & Concentration

You must be able to bring a sense of focus and concentration to rehearsals and performances, leave your everyday concerns and personal issues outside and be willing to fully engage in the production process. We need your imagination, creativity, and inspiration in order to make our show a success. Negative energy only diminishes a creative atmosphere.
